If you drive through Plakias and out the other end, past the little harbour, you will find the small bay of Souda, It is popular with Greek families in particular
The sea shelves away rapidly so non swimmers have to be careful and it is pebbly but it us fairly sheltered and often calm when the main beach is rough.
Fun on the water's edge
The warm breeze was catching the top of the water and we could see the outline of the "Paximadi" islands in the distance
When I see this rock formation I am always reminded in the book by H. Rider Haggard "She" and the particular part when they are looking for a rock "Shaped like the head of an Ethiopean" to show their way to landfall.
We had lunch in a Beach cafeteria called "Delfini"
We sat and enjoyed the view
Shade under the trees
Across the bay
We ordered a tasty "Delfini" omelette and a mixed salad with beetroot
Delicious, salad leaves, carrot, spring onions, orange, beetroot and walnuts
With an orange and balsamic dressing
Delicious
The sun sparkled on the water
Plenty of space between the beach beds and umbrellas for your own.
Looking across to Plakias
