Epiphany brings the snow

We started the week with a cold day for Epiphany - and it got colder!

At Epiphany the  priest will throw a cross into the water and the lads dive in to retrieve it. The winner is blessed and is said to have good luck all the year.

If you are not near the sea - try the river!

Saturday night brought the snow!

Gingy catches a bit of sun on top of his kennel!

Olive trees bent down under the weight of the snow

The snow was luckily not so long lasting as 2004!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Escape to the Mountains

Visitors to Crete in the summer often don't realise that we have a "real" winter. The mountains are magnificent especially after a fall of snow. Occasionally the snow reaches down to the sea
Looking towards Georgioupolis from Petres. Returning one winter's day from Rethymnon I had to stop to capture the view
