Coffee in Ambellaki

Have you ever visited the village of Ambellaki just outside Rethymnon? No? Well, true, there is not a lot there, just a quiet traditional village getting on with daily life. You may have seen signs to it when on the road from Rethymnon towards Spili and Plakias.

We stopped for coffee at a traditional Kafenion. One room of a house had been converted for the purpose

Greek coffee and Easter Biscuits

Then we wandered around the village

There were stunning views although it was a cloudy day so photographs don't do it justice.

Many old corners

Interesting patterns on the doors

Flowers growing out of house walls

A   modern twist on the old arched doorway

Wood stacked for next winter

A bricked up doorway

Why not stop for a walk around next time you are passing by?
