Recipe of the week Fava

Fava (split peas)


I cup Fava ( split peas) to 3 cups water (half a kilo = 18 cups of water; for 2 people use 2 cups of Fava)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 stock cube if you wish (if used, don't add salt)


Put water in the pan. Add all other ingredients




Stir. Bring to the boil then turn down heat.


Keep an eye on the pan. Stir occasionally. The mixture is ready when it is the consistency of thick yoghurt.


Serve with onion wedges, a splash of oil and squeeze on a little lemon if liked




Any leftovers ?  Caramelize a chopped onion in a frying pan, add fava and  a splash of wine. Cook without lid till heated through.
