Lunch at Galero

We always enjoy stopping for a coffee or a snack at "Cafe Galero" in Rethymnon. It is such a great place for people watching.
Tucked away just next to the Roman fountain  it has a cafe on one side of the road and a taverna on the other

 The fountain

Wonderful ceiling fans

Frappe

A tasty tuna sandwich with crusty, freshly baked baguette

Juicy Greek salad - though we felt that the Feta could have been a little more generous..

…and a few crisps on the side of the sandwich would have finished it off nicely

Inside you find old musical instruments on the walls

Clocks, cameras and phones

The stairs to the mezzanine are underlie

Still a 20's feel about the building

A piano on the mezzanine above the bar

Another piano in the taverna area

..and a canary!

An ideal place to sit, rest and watch the world go by.

You may like to know:

Service: Pleasant and efficient.

Type of food: Typical tourist fare

Prices, Average for a tourist area. We did feel they could have been a little more  generous with the cheese on the salad and a few crisps on the side of the sandwich, given the higher prices.

"Star ratings"- on the "Guzunder" scale 5.
- Clean, modern, doors have locks, toilet seats present, paper and paper towels available, BUT it is a track up two fights of stairs so not suitable for disabled elderly or mothers with small children.

Complementary raki? none offered- but we were only having coffee and a snack

Would we return? Yes,a great place for people watching
