Here comes the rain...

The first rains of autumn are met with a mixture of feelings. Provided their grapes have been harvested the farmers are generally happy. The fire brigade too. Local people and long term residents are relieved after so many months to see the skies open. Tourists not so happy - though generally it does not last for long and a sudden downpour can be an adventure and talking point when they go home.

Yesterday we were at the lake (Kournas) Clouds were glowering over the mountains, but it was still warm and the lake was full of pedalos and the tavernas full of people enjoying the local specialities

Then the clouds opened

The rain came down in a torrent

The tented areas of the tavernas were struggling to cope

No jacket? Borrow a tablecloth!

Some swimmers decided they were as well off to stay in the water

Tourists on pedalos made for land as the waterfowl came out

Steps turned into waterfalls..

..and torrents of water made its way to the lake (Yippee)

No, not flooded cars - pedalos designed to look  like cars!

A bit damp!

The lake is extremely low at the moment and it was good to see water running into it. There will need to be a lot more to make a difference

Someone had to brave the rain to fetch the car.

Forecast is dry and sunny for the next week!
