Koumos is a unique place to visit. Everything is made of stone, or covered with stone. You need a couple of hours to really appreciate it.
There is a little church to spend a quiet moment
Decorated with stone inside and out
The Koumos itself. ( Koumos is the word for the stone igloo type shelters the shepherds used to build in the mountains)
Inside the shelter
Around the grounds there are stone mosaics in the walls and floors
There is something different around every corner, old tools, water features, peacocks, seating areas.
A stone cannon guards the site!
Fabulous views over the bay
We met this magnificent gentleman
The food was delicious - as you can tell - and sensibly priced
Cretan salad with mizithra and black bread paximadi
Horta ( wild greens) Pies and the ubiquitous chips.
Eve the facilities were stone clad - the loo itself too!
Ladies
Gents
