Just off the hurly burly of leather lane in Hania you can find a little oasis of calm and a charming cafeteria to relax and rest between sightseeing and shopping. The "Red Bicycle". You can hardly miss it with small red tricycles on the tables and red bicycles on the wall above the entrance!
Flowers, a waterfall and canaries singing in cages make the centerpiece of the cafe
There is a canopy of trees all down the lane.
You can't miss it!
The canaries were singing to each other
The waterfall gurgled
We chose to sit on a comfy, colourful bench
Just watching the world go by
Fred relaxed, but no raki testing today.
An oasis of cool in the busy town.
We ordered a tuna sandwich and yoghourt with fruit, along with a frappe and a fresh orange juice.
The yoghourt and fruit came with a jug of honey. Not having a sweet tooth I declined the honey and enjoyed the fresh clean sharp taste of locally made yoghourt tempered by sweet taste of the melon, strawberries, kiwifruit, banana and pear.
Fred's tuna sandwich was delicious with plenty of tasty filling. We did find the coffee a little strong, so if you prefer your coffee weaker of milkier make sure you ask!
The shop across the lane was advertising "Traditional Miracle Cream". We asked but they did not have any modern miracle cream….
Busy "people watching" we noticed the Bishop of Hania, His Reverance, Damaskinios, enjoying his morning coffee next door.
All the cafeteria was supervised by a beautiful grey and pink parrot in the doorway.
