Gerani in the winter

It is lovely to visit a few places you never seem to get to in the summer. Gerani near Rethymnon is one of these. You may have seen the rather imposing figures at the entrance to the village!

There is a lovely view from the village

The usual church

 ..and memorials

Old houses tucked away between the new

Did you know it has its own amphitheatre?

A bath? a grave? a cave? anyway it is in the middle of the seating!

we popped in for a meze lunch

All freshly home made

Watched by a canary

The archer overlooks the entrance to the village

Coffee at Agia Gallini

A quick pitstop for coffee at the pretty village of Agia Gallini

At the entrance to the harbour Angels are looking over the memorial (Don't close your eyes!)*

A wander around the harbour discussing which boat to buy when we win the lottery.

Hmmm….. this one I think!

The houses and tavernas all in a tumble down the cliff side

A strange rock formation behind the village

The amphitheatre, high up on the side of the cliff - note to self, take a walk up there next visit-

Just time for a quick coffee near the harbour - you would not know that the sea was there!

The "Balloon" cafe was pretty in pale blue and white

Good coffee, but the light was fading and it was time to go

* A Dr Who reference for those of you who are not fans!
